Hi! My name is Tyler Wang and I am one of the coaches for Resurgence Movement Systems/Allcalf powerlifting!
I received my BA in psychology from Wesleyan University in 2021, and am currently working on getting an MA in Applied Exercise Physiology at Columbia University. Outside of academia, I hope to on day work in the professional sports science field in addition to powerlifting coaching, with an emphasis on strength and conditioning.
I found weight training out of desperation back in sophomore year of high school, when I suffered a bicycle accident the summer prior and left me with a broken arm, nose, and 8 stitches next to my eye. I was completely sedentary that summer, and was ready to make a lifestyle change once the semester started back up. I found love in pushing my body to the limit by lifting weights while playing 3 sports throughout high school, but needed an outlet for competition once I was in college. I then, found powerlifting, and the rest is history.
One of my best things about coaching that I enjoy is seeing my athletes progress and become better versions of themselves day in and day out — whether if it’s hitting new gym PRs, life PRs, or overcoming mental obstacles. I truly love being able to make positive impacts on people’s lives and will always be happy to guide those who are in need.
