Hi! My name is Carl, and I’m one of the owners and head coach of Resurgence Barbell and Fitness.

My undergraduate career began in Pre-Physical Therapy with hopes of entering what my mom would call “a steady career.” I explored many different pastimes and interests that all cumulatively led to powerlifting. Participating in a charity meet at Adelante Barbell Club gave me perspective in my journey of strength and a newfound love for lifting and training. After competing in the USA Powerlifting NJ Iron Gobbler Championship, I was decidedly drawn to the benchmarks of building my lifts into concrete numbers and getting stronger. 

An announcement of the annual charity meet at Adelante Barbell Club piqued the interests of my friends. They asked me to train them in preparation for the meet, where I began the development of my coaching skills. I was blessed with four individuals who trusted me to help them become the best lifters they could be. From there, it was history. Since then, I’ve worked with many different people at varying levels of experience on their powerlifting journeys, from the local level to the national stage. 

Powerlifting served as the gateway for me to dive more into studying movement as a whole and allowed me to become better equipped to execute the necessary skills to notice changes in how people move. More recently I’ve worked more in person to help people move better and get stronger. I strive to continuously immerse myself in resources to improve my skills and ways of thinking as a coach. This includes taking continuing education courses and looking to my peers who challenge me to think critically. I aim to do everything in my power to be the most comprehensible coach and friend I can be to everyone I hope to help.
